password

i keep trying to enter my password in the terminal and keep getting the message sorry try again what is wrong i just wanna download and install stuff on here how can i make it so its not so confusing like no password at all mabee?

Probably not this, but when I get this sort of thing it is sometimes just something like I have the caps lock on. As I say it's probably not this, but worth checking.

Also, to rule out any keyboard mapping issues, I also find it useful to just type my password at the terminal command prompt so it appears in plain text - then you can see if what is being sent is what you think your password is.
