does not recognize the mp3 player SANDISK as removable device

When I plugged in a San disk mp3 player the machine does not recognize it. do I need to install something else like real player? it does not appear as a removable device either. what can i do

Well your mp3 player may only like windows...look on the box, what does it say. Does it say For Windows XP or anything like that? Cause it may only like Windows.
