I get into recovery of the last boot of Ubuntu and the device is mounted...how do I use recovery to get the last boot of Ubuntu to boot up Ubuntu?

I suggest you boot to liveCD and you can chroot and instate the bootloader there.

If you can boot into recovery mode as you said, do so then open a console with <ctrl><alt><F2>, and type

sudo update-grub.

If grub is completely missing or broken you can re-install it as Andrew said.
