my computer will not boot into operating system choices menu

Asked by Terry Wight

l have installed Ubuntu on my comp. and it runs next to windows. When l start my computer i need to hit F8 then use up and down arrows to select return to operating system choices menu. this menu will not show up automatically. l would like the OS choices menu to come up on startup so i can select either windows or ubuntu. if anyone has any suggestions on how to set this up l would like to hear from u. lt is my understanding as l have 2 operating systems on C drive the os choices menu should automatically appear, but when i turn on my comp. it boots into windows automatically unless i hit F8. Thanks .

I suggest that you install the Grub Customizer program.
The Preferences tab will allow to Show Menu, and choose how long it shows before automatically booting the default OS.
You can pick which OS you want for your default.
Be sure to do File>Install to MBR before you quit the program.

Grub-customizer isn't yet to find in official repos, it's available as ppa.
