Why was ipmasq removed from ubuntu karmic?

Asked by Gizmo

Just wondering why ipmasq seems to have been removed from karmic
it shows up in google cache as being in karmic, however I realise that may have been an artifact created when the karmic package list was placed on the site.

Another package requires it and I can't find it
Is there any way to compile it myself?

Thank you for your time :)

Sure if you go to the developers site you can download source and compile it. You should run:

sudo apt-get install build-essential

To give you a development suite.

ipmasq was removed from Debian at the maintainer's request: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=538384

Also, a possible alternative is arno-iptables-firewall ( http://packages.ubuntu.com/arno-iptables-firewall )

Can you help with this problem?
