cannot burn mp3 files - prefer to use k3b

Asked by Dave & Julie

I've been using k3b for several years without any problems.Yesterday I noticed upgrades were available so I downloaded them.Ever since restarting my computer I've been unable to burn mp3 files to cd - even files that were no problem a few days ago. This is all I get -
Unable to handle the following files due to an unsupported format:
You may manually convert these audio files to wave using another application supporting the audio format and then add the wave files to the K3b project.

I've also tried burning them using Brasero but have the same problem. Is this connected with the upgrades I installed ??

Have followed that through, but still no joy with mp3s - we have some on the computer which we have bought, but not yet burnt, and now cannot do anything with them. We prefer to use k3b to burn our audios, but if needs be we'll try another...

Dave & Julie,

To burn mp3s to an audio CD, you need the proper codecs to do the conversion, and those codecs are not installed by default. You need to install the libk3b3-extracodecs package as follows:

sudo apt-get install libk3b3-extracodecs

You should also read these:
