Field data from "Edit Symbol Fields" does not match COM

In my schematic, if I use the Edit Symbol Fields function and delete what's in a field, the field becomes empty as expected. After everything is saved and the bill of materials is generated, the BOM field still shows the previous data and is not empty.

Is it wrong to expect that deleted field data in the schematic when using the Edit Symbol Fields function should also be deleted from the generated BOM?

So now I have the following for a symbol C1 for example.
When I right click on C1 and select properties, Field4 is a named field and it is empty. Field4 for C1 also shows up this same way when using the Edit Symbol Fields function.

When I run the BOM, the C1 Field4 field is not empty and still has the data I deleted.

Please file a Bug Report. Open a terminal input: ubuntu-bug linux This will use apport to help generate information that will be included on the Bug Report. I looked through the other Bug Reports for 'kicad' none are the same as this.

Hello Bernard,

I wanted to make sure I do this right as I haven't done this before. As I am using Kicad under Windows 10 (and didn't mention it), but the Ubuntu site was what I was able to find to post this question, is there a more appropriate place to file a bug report? If so, please send the link, or let me know if I should go ahead and post it here.

I suggest that you use one of the KiCad user resources listed in the "Community" section of the KiCad website http://kicad-pcb.org/.
