Setting up New install
I have one PC with Kubuntu installed which is sitting on a Network with 4 other Windows machines
I have a number of possibly minor issues
I want to set it up to use the printer that is plugged into a USB port on one of the other Windows machines on the network, but I am not certain which printer setting to use to try and find it in "Add a printer"
I have made an assumption that Windows Printer via Samba is the best option but it just sits there for ever and a day "Scanning" and finds nothing
I am not certain whether relevent but when I look at the network on the Home folder it finds the "Home" Network icon, buy can go no further and I am unable to see the other machines on the network.
I am assuming this issue may be related to the printer issues.
Also the screen resolution is really poor, I can only set 800x600 as the max resolution although the monitor can go much higher as was running around 1024x800 (Or something) when it was a windows PC
I love Linux and the whole ethos behind it, but I am still very new to it and need a few pointers to solve these few niggles
Also with Kubunu - How do I find things like Firefox, Thunderbird and Open Office which I have been using for many years now on XP and would love to coninue to use
Any help would be appreciated
Regards
Mike
