Updating 11.10 borked my boot-up!! keyboard flashing; tried boot-repair; no joy
I updated my 11.10 for some security and other updates.. and when I went to reboot.. it won't even get into the startup screen.. it kernel panics when trying to mount the root partition and says not found.. can't mount root partition.. obviously it has something to do with misnumbering of partitions maybe? but i'm still seemingly using grub 1.99, i think?
anyway, here is the boot-repair printout, which didn't work: http://
please help!!

Are you using any sort of raid? Any particular reason for a /boot partition?

SOLUTION: TURN OFF THE DEV REPOS! they were the problem. they installed 3.0...15 image alongside 3.0...14 kernels and totally threw the system's ability to mount and boot... I disabled the dev repos (using a live session), and then rebooted, selected the 'Other previous installations" (which I didnt know was a submenu), selected the next most recent one, which worked, booted in, updated, removed the bad proposed kernel, and voila..

They are dev repos, what did you expect.....

That they would still be workable and boot at least... why are people
releasing such buggy code?

Works perfectly fine here...
