ubuntu 64 bit sovrapposto a ubuntu 32

Asked by Stefano Dall'Agata

Lucid utilizzava:
Linux kernel image for version 2.6.32 on x86/x86_64

This package contains the Linux kernel image for version 2.6.32 on
x86/x86_64.

Per Pangolin posto da terminale:
stefano@stefano-laptop:~$ uname -a
Linux stefano-laptop 3.2.0-24-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP Tue May 1 16:21:07 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
stefano@stefano-laptop:~$ uname -m
i686

e da synaptic:
Linux kernel image for version 3.2.0 on 64 bit x86 SMP

This package contains the Linux kernel image for version 3.2.0 on
64 bit x86 SMP.

Also includes the corresponding System.map file, the modules built by the
packager, and scripts that try to ensure that the system is not left in an
unbootable state after an update.

Supports Generic processors.

Geared toward desktop and server systems.

You likely do not want to install this package directly. Instead, install
the linux-generic meta-package, which will ensure that upgrades work
correctly, and that supporting packages are also installed.

I did an upgrade from Lucid at Pangolin, my system was always 32-bit.
Yesterday came the kernel upgrade, and I noticed that it was written 64-bit.
The gaming works like before, I had reported problems with HUD not working and high load average.
It is normal to be so? Or should I have the kernel headers and 32-bit?
I am not able to say that we were the first kernel.
Lucid used:
Linux kernel image for version 2.6.32 on x86/x86_64

i686 == 32bit

....

So you are on a 32bit kernel.
