Time for i686?

Asked by Pako

Because the next version of Ubuntu will be a LTS, meaning that older i386 computer will be able to work in the next few years, so I think the 10.10 version of Ubuntu should be finally compiled in i686

You could put your whish, "question", on launchpad-bugs, and mark your comment as a "wish".
ubuntu-answers isn't the place to put it/ask this.

There is a "draft" "blueprint"(1) and "specification"(2) for this, apparently accepted for 10.10 and targeted for maverick-alpha-2.

(1) https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/foundations-m-686-compile
(2) https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FoundationsTeam/Specs/Maverick686DefaultCompile
