Please backport MESA 13 for 16.04 HWE

Asked by Teg

There are stable packages at https://launchpad.net/~paulo-miguel-dias/+archive/ubuntu/pkppa for MESA 13 for Xenial and Yakkety, so can you offer it as an installable package for the upcoming Ubuntu 16.04.2 and 16.10? I ask because Canonical is offering a HWE kernel to get the latest and it should also apply to MESA.

Feral Interactive has also been in contact to get MESA in there to improve game performance. Don't you want to help out one of the top Linux porters have the best experience on your platform?

Packages from a PPA cannot be labelled as "stable"

If you report a bug, then the package may be updated. If there are no significant bug or security fixes then the package will not be updated.

A little byrdie told me that 16.04.2's mesa et al are being staged here:

 https://launchpad.net/~canonical-x/+archive/ubuntu/x-staging

I haven't tried them yet. Do they work for you?

Timo says the mesa 13 backport packages have moved to

https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/ubuntu/updates

and Adam says mesa 13 will land in ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS:
