Download and installing opera

i am trying to download opera and install it , this is my first time on linux. can some one please explain to me step by step on downloading and installing opera.

Download this file to your desktop:

http://www.opera.com/download/get.pl?id=27717&location=86&nothanks=yes&sub=marine

Then perform these 2 commands in the terminal (applications ->
accessories -> terminal):

sudo dpkg -i ~/Desktop/opera_8.54-20060330.6-shared-qt_en_etch_i386.deb
sudo apt-get -f install

The first command will give an error, don't panic. The second command
will correct it all.

I think the static deb package doesn't give any errors after dpkg -i.

Can you help with this problem?
