Updating OpenDHT to 2.4.0

Asked by Gavin Henry

Hi all,

What's the best way to update this to 2.4.0?

I was going to do https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UpdatingADeb and then put in my own PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~gavinhenry/+archive/ubuntu/opendht

for use in my SentryPeer PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~gavinhenry/+archive/ubuntu/sentrypeer

as I need the most recent C bindings. I'll do this in the meantime.

Thanks,
Gavin.

Indeed the best way forward is building your own version in a PPA.

For upgrades in the official Ubuntu repositories:
The version in the development release of Ubuntu jammy is 2.3.1, and the same in Debian.
First step must be that Debian upgrade their version. This may then make it only into Ubuntu 22.10 or later. The older Ubuntu releases will not receive an update, unless there is a very strong reason, see the FAQ linked above.
