Outdated version

Asked by Hazem

The Pandoc version here is outdated. It's stuck at v1.17.2 (from July, 2016), while the latest version is v1.19.2.1 (February, 2017).
(All versions: https://github.com/jgm/pandoc/releases/)

Is there anyway to update it?

I suggest you report a bug. If the security and bug fixes are significant then the package will be updated sooner rather than later.

Is there any chance for the package to be updated in `trusty` or `xenial`?

Same process applies. Package updates in the LTS releases are rare and packages are often left

Ubuntu isn't a rolling release distribution.
