Good Movie Editing software

adobe premier is pretty good, but it costs an arm and leg. there's adobe premier essential, which is a stripped down and older version of premier which isn't as expensive.

i did a search on google and came up with these alternatives.

as one person put it, have you even tried to look for yourself?

You mentioned titles, and I thought openshot/PiTV were capable of this. If you could explain your needs, and or why these apps are not good for you, then perhaps it would be easier to recommend.

Yes, I have tried looking for myself... but not on the wikipidia link you gave, and on there I saw one that I havent tried, I will have to try that one. on Pitivi, The only way I can figure out how to do the titles, were by going into open office present, and making a slide with the title on it, exporting it as a JPG and importing it into the movie. with OpenShot, The 3D effects took over three hours to render, and the basic titles, they had graphics, like bubbles and stuff like that, and what I need is just some basic titles, and if I want to, use the ones with the graphics. I would LOVE it if I could open Windows Movie Maker in Wine (that, I think, is the ONLY thing I like about Windows)

For scrolling titles, thats how it is normally done, except you might want to use Inkscape to make the title slide, then export to PNG/JPEG rather than by doing it in openoffice (better control and better results). This is the most flexible method -- a scrolling "viewport" moves down your picture.

I use Kdenlive for some of my work, but I don't have to do very much stuff, just fade ins and outs, cropping, clipping, and other simple transitions

There's kino too, its a kde app but will run fine in gnome (but will pull in a lot of Qt libs). You can also try avidemux.

I know that this can be done with KDEnlive currently. Pitivi doesn't do this yet (patches welcome, but that's not the question here ;)

I guess I will stick with PiViTi for right now... (maybe some people should make a movie maker that's allot like Windows Movie Maker ;) )
