Connect Scanner Avision AV610C2

Try to connect my new scanner Avison AV610C2 to Ubuntu 6.06. The scanner is recognized by the usb device (vendor=0x0638, product=0x0a5e). When I start xsane there is a error message that no scanner is available (same in e.g. Vuescan).
There is a file "avision.c" (http://svn.exactcode.de/sane-avision/trunk/backend/avision.c) where this scanner AV610C2 is integrated. But - still now - recompiling sane (sane-backends-1.0.18) not helps.
Is there any answer to connect this scanner? Thanks for help.
