Password Recovery

Asked by Johnomran-gmail

Earlier this month I have re-installed UBUNTU 12.04 with new password. Unfortunaley I have lost the reminder for the new password as well as the installation disc. And now I can only logon as a gust. Is there any way of recovering the new password, or failing that, is possible to obtain an installation disc for UBUNTU 12.04

Best regards

Hello,
in boot menu, choose recovery mode. Then choose root shell, and type :
passwd YOURUSERNAME

@Filip Sohajek
When resetting a password from recovery mode, usually it's necessary to remount the root filesystem as readwrite before running the passwd command (http://askubuntu.com/a/156363).
