Can't scan from my Epson Stylus NX625 to my PC via USB>

Every time I try to scan from my Epson Stylus NX625 it tells me there is a USB connection error. I can print via the USB cable but it is not letting me scan. In the Simple Scan when the scanner shows up its not the right type and i can not change it?
