how to install packages manually in ubuntu 10.04

i have downloade many packages which are mostly in .tar.gz format how can i install these plz help?

Your FIRST choice should always be to install from Repository

Your SECOND choice should be to install from a .deb

Your very last choice should be to compile!!! You can get into a mess with Dependancies...

i downloaded fwbulder-4.1.1 and no i foud it no net not frm software centre
