How do I play my windows pc games in Ubuntu?

Asked by richard j atkins

Gave up on windows after my third virus attack in 6 months and that with having system mechanic professional running and supposedly protecting me!!!. Have now set my box up to run using Ubuntu, but how do I now play my old windows pc games either directly from their cd/dvd or by installing under Ubuntu?

Some games run natively, some games run well in wine and some will not even install. The install CD can easily be used and I suggest you install playonlinux. You may also find that Cedega makes them work. Both have compatibility lists. Cedega is not free in any way but may be what you need to make the game work.

Have the lists for each game. You may also want to check your desired game cannot run natively. Doom 3 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein both run natively and there are also Linux games like the Penumbra series, Urban Terror, Flight Gear and the list goes on.

Can you help with this problem?
