how to install with sudo command a compressed tar bz2 (tar bzip)

This is one of those "why didn't I writ this down" situations.

I know there is a SUDO command line structure for installing apts in a compressed file, like a .bz2 file.

I did this before because the site I downloaded the compressed file from included was considerate enough to know that many users would NOT know how to use the file.

So, what is command structure for installing an apt from a compressed file?

You dont use apt-get to use .bz2 files

bz2 is a compressed file like zip or rar

you can decompress it with

tar -xvjpf filename.tar.bz2

I am aware of the need to uncompress.

Like I said, a site that provided a compressed file had a *single* SUDO command line that did the install from the compressed file in a "How to install" text file. I just copy/paste the command into Terminal and it worked.

I suspect it uncompressed + installed.

I just forgot to write down the phrasing for the command.
