No sound in totem.

I am using jaunty amd64. Have good video playing dvd, but no sound. Everything is properly connected.

probably codec problem...

try installing gstreamer codecs from applications->add/remove
or
goto system->preferences->sounds

then select appropriate playback driver and shoot!!!

Hey btw install VLC or mplayer...

much better than tottem
procedure is same
applications->add/remove
then type in the name of software required, tick and apply

Thank you for your responses. I already had mplayer and vlc installed
and could play dvds properly with them. I was just wondering why the
default player, totem, was not fully functional.

I appear to have the gstreamer codec installed but still no deal.

well, in the terminal you can always type:

gksudo aptitude install ubuntu-restricted-extras

type your password and let the program run

then you'll have working sound in totem, given it is a codec problem.

I found that the "GStreamer fluendo MPEG2 demuxing plugin" in Applications> Add/Remove> Sound And Video enabled sound on my DVDs in the Totem Movie Player
