Cannot boot Ubuntu 10.10 from Live CD

Asked by Marcos

Hi all.

I´m absolute newbie in Linux. I hope I could find some help here.

I´d just wanted to try the Ubuntu Live CD version.
I created a ISO image on a CD and then restarted the printer. Once the Ubuntu is being launched, appears allways the same message on the screen:

BusyBox v.1.15.3 (Ubuntu 1:1.15.3-1ubuntu5) built-in shell (ash)

(initranfs) mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on //filesystem.squashfs failed: Input/output error
(cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs

I hope someone could help. Thanx in advance.

Did you make a MD5SUM of the cd?

In a terminal enter md5sum filename. If you get a number you can assume that the file is correct. Otherwise you have to download it again.

Could you try to boot from USB key if MD5 checksum is OK.
Some CD drives are badly managed.

Thanks a lot for your answers.
I´d downloaded MD5Summer and checked the .iso and it was OK. So I just downloaded the .ISO image again, burned it with the infrarecorder and now it works fine Thanks!
