will hp 2311 monitor work with ubuntu 10.04?

Asked by Keith Glossop

I am thinking of buying a HP 2311x lcd monitor to use with my ubuntu 10.04 and 11.10 os's. Does anyone know if I will get good screen resolutions with this combination? I have had so much trouble in the past with poor resolutions that I thought I'd ask first this time.
I have contacted hp customer support and received the usual " when the drivers are released they will appear on the website" - hence no support at all! They also said it was plug and play but no reassurance that it would work.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Keith

11.10 supports hp 2311x monitor well at it's max resolution of 1920 x 1080, provided your graphic card (either pci or onboard) have enough power to support HD resolution. ubuntu 11.10 with kernel 3.2 comes with most of the drivers. don't worry and just go ahead. happy viewing.

Works a treat Murali. Many thanks for your help. Also works well with 10.04 - the display is self calibrating and sets itself up. So dead easy.
Saved me a lot of bother.
All the best
