my ubuntu crashed out

i kept removing unused apps using my synaptic manager
when i restarted i cannot open ubuntu
when i started recovery using Alt+SysRq R E I S U B
it says kill process no recovery
i have unsaved data
now can i resinstall ubuntu over the crashed one

What metho did you use to install the OS?

the ubuntu os was loaded by the salesperson through a pendrive
it says that cannot locale /etc/initramfs

Do you have a bootable LiveUSB drive or LiveCD with Ubuntu on it? You can re-install Ubuntu but use the advanced partitioner to specify what partitions to use without formatting. Your data will remain intact. Probably, there's only one main partition on the hard drive, with a swap partition for Linux. In this case your main partition will be /dev/sda
