upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 failed

Asked by thewilbob@comcast.net

all went well except 11.04 would not connect to the net. No help from comcast.

Nothing I tried would get 11.04 on the air.

I had to reinstall 10.04 then upgrade to 10.10 but can get no updates.

Is there any way to open up updates for 10.10 for a day so that I can get all of my machine back.

I need Gnome 2 as it is the only desktop that I can make do nothing.

please advise

Maverick is EOL so you won't get any updates as all the repos have been disabled.
Gnome2 is no longer developed for except in unofficial forks.
I suggest you install a clean install of Precise and not only is it LTS but it will give you the latest kernel and drivers etc.

I don't like Unity at all. I need a desktop like Gnome 2 that does nothing. In my question I indicated I was aware of the EOL and was looking for a way to get the updates

thanks for the reply,

I know I can install something else, but what I want is an upgraded 10.10 like I had before.
My problems is not solved but I'll willing to give up.
