Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you burn the CD as slowly as possible?
Have you tested your RAM?

The cd rom is not the computer, so the statement: but the computer is only 6months old, makes no sence, if it says that then you might just have to buy a newer cd/dvd/cd-rom to intall from

First, what is it that you are trying to install?
also, can you post the exact error message?
take actionparsnip's advice and check the MD5 sum. It is a simple procedure.

If you don't want to attempt that, download a different iso and try that.
