fresh install ubuntu screen problems

Asked by glenn caughill

I installed ubuntu 11.11 on a dell. it wants to start in classic desktop, thats fine but none of the tabs work, its like the screen turns inside out when you try and do anything big square cut outs of screen that are under neath. I've never seen anything like it. I can't get on the net untill the firefox tab works.

Consider to install a newer version of Ubuntu because 11.10 will be EOL (out of support) in a few months (April).

I suggest Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

Can be found here : http://releases.ubuntu.com/precise/

Thanks

i can't give the out put of nothing because nothing works, the desk top is a christmas tree , it looks like i will try to go for the 12.04 but so far I haven't been able to make a bootable usb in windows, and I don't have a ubuntu computer I can use on the net.

Use unetbootin with an MD5 tested ISO, you'll be fine. I recommend the 2D desktop session, its far more responsive and uses fewer resources
