I forgot my root password in phpmyadmin how to retrieve it or change it using terminal..

I just want to change my root password in my phpmyadmin. but the fact is that i forgot my password on it.. please help.. thanks. i preferred using terminal to retrieve it or change it.. thanks in advance.. :)
