Prefer using gnome-panel to Unity with 10.10

I have successfully upgraded my netbook from 9.04 to 10.10 and am very pleased with the improvements.
However, I miss the ease of use, including shortcuts, of Gnome-Panel compared to the new Unity interface.

Gnome-Panel can still be installed over the top, but I would like to dismiss Unity altogether (in 9.04 there was actually a choice during the installation).

Can anyone provide an answer of how ot run 10.10 (netbook) with just gnome-panels ??

Any help is much appreciated.

Franz,

On my 10.10 netbook I have both, Desktop and Netbook (Unity) installed, I can simply choose which to use at GDM login.

The desktop metapackage name is ubuntu-desktop.

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
sudo apt-get remove --purge unity
sudo apt-get autoremove

Thanks to George and Sam who made me think.

The answer, of course, is found simply in the login configuration screen.
Selecting the Gnome Desktop answers the problem .
