Launcher Icons Revert to Default Upon Login

Asked by maddiealt

Every time I login, I get the same default icons despite removing them and adding new ones ( by right-clicking on apps like skype and pressing "keep in launcher.") I hope I have explained my problem thoroughly - I am a ubuntun00b. Is this just a bug, is it fixable, or am I missing something here?

Same problem. The Unity dock isn't remembering my "Keep in Launcher" settings and reverting to default on login.

I thought I'd check the gconf-editor for problems in the settings, but it looks like no entry for "Desktop -> Unity" was even created. Maybe that's the cause?

I am also missing Desktop -> Unity entry in gconf_editor (but I am sure it was there when I upgraded to 11.04). Any quick solution to that?
I just noticed when I was debugging why are some indicators not reacting to my mouse clicks.

Unity is not part of the Gnome desktop, so it doesn't use gconf-editor.

You can use dconf-editor instead:

    sudo apt-get install dconf-tools

Then look under Desktop -> Unity for available config options.

Of course, I should've used dconf-editor, my bad...
That solves my problem, thanks.
