sticky launcher in ubuntu 11.10

The launcher frequently moves into a position blocking the browser. After moving the mouse to try to retract the launcher, the
launcher will frequently be unresponsive for up to 30 seconds. Also, the launcher will not always appear immediately after
moving the mouse to the left edge of the screen.

In ccsm under the unity plugin section you can set the hide to autohide, is this what it is set to? If it is, change it to something else, then back.

Can you also give the output of:

lsb_release -a; apt-cache policy unity

Thank you for your response. The unity plugin setting was "autohide". I changed it to "dodge windows" and back to "autohide" but did not notice a difference. The output of
lsb_release -a; apt-cache policy unity is

if you are having problem with unity, try using your PC in Gnome default mode. for this you need to install the plug-in "gnome panel" from software center and you will get the default gnome 3 look and feel. the problem you mentioned affected me too. I did the same thing.
