computer manager files missing

Then drop to terminal and run:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install dash

after adding to terminal then do I press enter?

I did this and nothing changed.

click on the b&w ubuntu logo that's on top of the sidebar. you'll see a search bar and a magnifying glass to the right of it. type in a program you want to locate (e.g. writer). the search bar that shows is the dash.

I REINSTALLED COMPUTER MANAGER AND IT SEEMS TO BE DOING ITS JOB NOW.
