My desktop is not displayed a usual today. Launcher and display applets missing. 11.10

I just now open the laptop and surprised to see that the desktop does not show anything. No side bar and neither the usual top bar with normal controls of voice, wifi system etc.

But the top bar contains the file operation fields like open a folder, edit, view etc.

Try a reboot but if the problem persists you will need to reset Unity: Most common reason for this is changing a compiz setting for something that is no longer valid under the new Interface.
