After updating UBUNTU the basic program will not run

Asked by Roger Warburton

when I select the basic UBUNTU and log in it does not display the launcher this means that I cant even shut the computer down without manually turning it off.
If I switch to UBUNTU 2D it works

Please try to open a terminal: ctrl+alt+t
Enter:
unity --reset
or
compiz --replace

Thanks for that it came back but still think their is a problem,loads of warnings came up when unity --reset used and when machine is shutting down its flashing messages something about a key but cant read it properly

Please note that the terminal is asking me to file a bug report this is the content regarding the bug report.Can anybody help.??
