I have an Acer netbook that has preinstalled Ubuntu 9.04 version. How can i upgarde to the latest 10.10 version? Through the update manager I cannot do it thus it says that the system is up-to-date whenever I "check" it. It can only update some of the installed software. It doesn't upgrade. It seems that it has not upgraded in the first time so it has stopped doing it. I cannot do it by CDrom as it hasn't got one.

When you open Update-Manager from a version of Ubunti other that 8.04.1 or 10.04.1, you should see at top a button proposing you to upgrade to following release.
For 8.04.1 or 10.04.1, you have to go to Preferences and remove option "Update only to LTS version".

After searching a little with the links you send me I found out that there is installed a package of eubuntu 1.70. That seems to be the problem, isn't it?

I finally made it. The solution was under the EOL upgrades pages as the Jaunty distribution was expired of upgrades.
