E:Malformed line 47 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse), E:The list of sources could not be read

Binary package hint: update-manager

I was having problems with installing repositories. Somebody told me that I should only put karmic in the end while putting new mirrors in the source list.
Here is the link:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1308888

like this:
deb http://cz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu karmic

But after that, I got this bug:

Could not initialize the package information
An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:
'E:Malformed line 47 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse), E:The list of sources could not be read.'

Now there is a Red icon near volume control and when I click on it, it asks me to report the above bug.

I hope, somebody here will help me.

Thanks

P.S I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala

Thanks for your bugreport

I convert this to a question, the line should be "deb http://cz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu karmic main restricted universe multiverse"

Thanks for your reply.
I went to Software Sources and added this line:
deb http://cz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu karmic main restricted universe multiverse

after reloading, it again showed me this error:

Could not download all repository indexes
The repository may no longer be available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and ensure the repository address in the preferences is correct.

I closed it, and I get this error:

An error occurred
The following details are provided:
E: Malformed line 47 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
E: Unable to lock the list directory

I again closed it,

An error occurred
The following details are provided:
E: Malformed line 47 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
E: The list of sources could not be read.
Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

again closed it and It closed the Software sources.

I can't open Synaptic Manager, it gives me this error:

An error occurred
The following details are provided:
E: Malformed line 47 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
E: The list of sources could not be read.
Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

And I can't even open "Add/Remove Applications" when I try to open it, it gives me this error:

Failed to check for installed and available applications

This is a major failure of your software management system. Please check for broken packages with synaptic, check the file permissions and correctness of the file '/etc/apt/sources.list' and reload the software information with: 'sudo apt-get update' and 'sudo apt-get install -f'.

One more thing, it doesn't show any software in the Ubuntu Software Center, where I downloaded some softwares earlier.
It says:
0 items available

The red icon still showing up near volume control to report the bug.

What do I have to do to to fix all these things?
I'm a newbie, I just switched from Windows XP Service Pack 2 to Ubuntu 9.10 few days back.
I tried to download the Fedora 11, but the PC freezes every time during downloading. I know there is nothing wrong in my PC, because I downloaded Ubuntu 9.10 from the same firefox of Windows.

Now, should I reinstall Ubuntu 9.10 until I get CD of Fedora from my friend?
Or do you have some tips to fix it without uninstalling?

Thanks again
