setting up usb-modeswitch Kubuntu 7.10 (32 bit version)

Asked by Nitin

Dear All,
I am trying to get my cdma usb modem working in Kubuntu 7.10.

I installed following packages: usb-modeswitch_1.1.3-3-i386.deb and usb-modeswitch data-20100707-1-all.deb. The output of lsubs -v shows the modem as follows: Product ID: 0x2303 PL2303 Serial Port and Vendor ID: 0x067b Prolific Technology, Inc.

Now, I am at a loss what to do next. I Google about the information but didn't really figure out what to do.

I would like to know what to do next. Where shall I put the product id and vendor id. and how to run usb-modeswitch?
Please provide me with step by step solution.
