Asked by Darren Grindle

I love Ubuntu os on my Dell D600. However, it will not run my cd/dvd. I would need complete instructions on download and installation. Any help would be appreciated.

The #'s on the drive if needed are.....ID-09P809-48220-3BL-06GD, also 1977047C-D6, 7683615. I hope that helps.

ubuntu doesn't require drivers for running cd/dvd. the os itself comes preloaded with required modules. open the disk utility and see whether your drive details are displayed or not in that window. if it is being displayed then consider your drive as properly installed. the drive icon installed. try using some good media to test the drive.

if you are using the unity interface, access the programs menu, click on
installed programs (show all). look out for disk utility(with a harddisk
icon).

found it and I had only a cd drive hardware, so I loaded my dvd/cd drive in and rebooted my computer and BEHOLD!!!
I was able to run a dvd and it played oh so wonderfully.
