what is minimum ram requirement for using ubuntu and windows simultaneously

my laptop has only 512mb ram.would i be able to use ubuntu and windows simultaneously?

For Ubuntu is suficient (minimum 256 RAM), in the case of Win depends on waht version (you would not have problems with XP).

For XP, it should be OK. But your configuration is limit.
256kB for Ubuntu, around 64kB for Virtual Box and 198kB for XP.
Be careful. If you allocate to much memory for XP, you will have to power off the computer to get back control!
For Vista and Seven, no hope!
