Could't install intel VGA driver in virtual box running windows 7

Asked by Sandeep Tingare

Hello All,
I am using Lenovo B570 machine running Ubuntu 12.04. I have installed windows 7 in virtual box. While installing Intel VGA driver, I got an error saying that hardware requirement is not fulfilled.
I have allocated 1 GB of system RAM and 18 MB video RAM (default) while creating windows 7 virtual machine. Is this a sufficient hardware requirement? Please suggest me a way to fix this problem.

Hi ,

First of all , what version of virtualbox you have ? I suggest the Oracle's site version : https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads , 4.2 .

The memory of video card is too little. Increase it to the end (128MB). Is not necessary to install again the windows 7 system.
Either you download and install VB from Oracle's site , you can use the same VDI file.

Another thing you must do , Enable I/O apic and then click "Processor"and allocate 2 virtual processors at least (for win7).

Thanks

Hi,
I could not allocate 2 virtual processors due to an error saying that V-tx feature disabled. May be because of unsupported hardwarw feature. how can I proceed now?

Try to enable 2D acceleration .
