Ubuntu 11.04 with the Classic Desktop scheme: How to disable overlay scrollbars

Asked by Calin Cerghedean

I am using Ubuntu 11.04 with the Classic Desktop scheme. Just recently, I noticed that the scrollbars were not visible. I though it may be a bug in the window manager, but realized that it is actually a new scrollbar design.
My question is how do I disable this horrible behavior? And why don't you just enable this feature in Unity? Or at least make it user-configurable?

I totally agree with you. Besides the scrollbar should be consistent with the theme, and this new one is applied to every system theme, which is very bad behaviour. At the very least it should be a switch selector to choose using it on the themes preferences.

To disable, I just removed these two packages on synaptic:

overlay-scrollbar
liboverlay-scrollbar-0.1-0
