Radeon 9250 flicking while playing games

Asked by eaglewealth

I went to Administration==>>Hardware drivers and it came up with 3d ATI video drivers so I activate it to install drivers. So when I went to play neverball game it was flickering but can see 3d look and smooth scrolling but can't stand flickering. I looked up ATI preference and it says that it detect CRT monitor and not LCD monitor and cannot change that either that might trigger the problem. I uninstalled the ATI video drivers and when I played Neverball it seems fine but slower I guess.

I'm using Radeon 9250 256mb agp video card on Pentium 4 2.8ghz machine.

Any suggestion can email to <email address hidden>.

If you have a screensaver enabled please disable it..
and check if it still happens if you boot with 'nohz=off' as boot parameter..

To do that:
catch grub by pressing 'esc' at the preboot stage and edit the kernel line with 'e' just write 'nohz=off' at the end. this disables the new tickless feature, so you can test if that is the cause of your trouble..

Hope it helps

Bhavani Shankar.

I did tested the screensaver preview and they still flickering too. I disabled that but no different.

So do I wait till booting after unbunto logo appear to press escape or before that?

I'm not sure of grub?

Can you able to give me instructions to follow to do this command?

Do you have "Desktop Effects" enabled? If so, disable them and the flickering will go away.

Here's how:

Can you help with this problem?
