Could you describe a bit more of what happened before you tried the key combination? Maybe your system froze up on you, that's definitely possible in an alpha release; and if your system becomes unresponsive, sometimes even the key combinations don't work anymore.

Jaunty has Ctrl-Alt-Backspace disabled by default. As an alternative, try Alt-SysRq-K.

Yes Jaunty have this feature disabled but you can try to re enable it as you can read here:

http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/jaunty/alpha6#Known%20issues

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:

dontzap --disable

or

sudo dontzap --disable

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Might be you need to reboot your pc or restart xorg to see the some change.

Hope this helps
