only have black screen when running ubuntu with pendrive

I am extremely new to Ubuntu so if you reply please be very specific. Anyway when I suspend Ubuntu and try to resume it just brings up a black screen and never resumes. I hear the fan come on like it is trying to resume but it doesn't. PLEASE HELP ME!

im using asus A43t 6G ram Amd A6 Radeon hd 6720

im using ubuntu 11.10 64 bit...after running the ubuntu at the boot menu,it runs but after that im only hearing the sound of ubuntu start up and my screen goes blank like it been shut down but the fan are still running...

i think i have the latest bios because i always run the windows update if there are a new update...

Windows update doesn't update your BIOS

Asus website, you'll need to do it in Windows.

have updated the BIOS but it still have the same problem..

On booting with Pen drive on where you get options of running ubuntu in various modes like persistent mode networking mode etc...
Press Tab it will show a command lin ending with 791 edit it...
After some intritz.gz add xforcevesa noapci noapci nosplash irqpoll...
Press enter it will work like charm
