Cut off screen borders with a new tv

Asked by Niels Haver

Hi. I have Ubuntu 12.4 without problems. I changed my tv and the borders of my screen are cut off. It doesn't fit automatically. Reducing resolution doesn't work. Can I adjust it manually? How can I do that?

Can you give the make and model of the system?
Can you give the video card used?

Hi, I'm taking up that you have a desktop system and a LCD, most of them have an autoconfiguring button

Hi I have a Nvidia 9400GT graphics card, an Intel DP55WB motherboard and a LG 42" LED tv connected by a HDMI cable. On Windows7 is running the current NVIDIA driver (where I can manually fit in the screen). On Ubuntu the NVIDIA drivers are from X-server.org (?). On settings in Ubuntu selecting screens give no changes.

On my remote control the button ratio allowed me to scan my screen (it was set on 16:9). This fit my screen with tree clicks.
