Just go to your gmail account in the web www.gmail.com
Enter Settings and go to Forwarding an POP/IMAP
In POP download select Enable POP (for all mail or from now on)

After that is done go to evolution and configure the account with these
values:

*Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL:* pop.gmail.com
*Use SSL*: Yes
*Port*: 995
*Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS:* smtp.gmail.com (use
authentication)
*Use Authentication*: Yes
*Use STARTTLS*: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
*Port*: 465 or 587
*Account Name: * your Gmail username (including @gmail.com)
*Email Address: * your full Gmail email address (<email address hidden>)
*Password: * your Gmail password

Here you have detail configuration gmai acount in Thunderbird 1.5 for
Evolution is very similar, just folow this tutorial.

Is very easy, first you must to go via web site of gmail, in the
configuration link, you mus to click, Then go to POP option and enable
it.

When you have Enabled the POP3 Option, the you can use your Evolution.
You have to Set up, in the EDIT > PREFERENCE then a Window will be open,
you can click the "ADD" buttom.

In the Wizard, you must to say that have a POP account, and use this
data:

SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
Security: SSL
Auth Type: "Plain"

POP Server: pop.gmail.com
Security: SSL
Auth Type: "Password"

Remember you can now also use IMAP with Google, which will prevent from downloading everything into Evolution...
