i cannot find a utility to format usb drives!

i've just gotten a new usb drive that claimed it was compatible with linux....well all i'm trying to do is format it with ubuntu and i guess i'm stupid because i can't find a utility to partition that thumb drive. If anyone could help that'd be great.....

hello,
Go to System--->Administration--->Partition Editor

and you can select which device you want to edit at top right the windows.
but be carefull.dont wipe off your system.
