What do you mean by a number nine video card? What brand/model is it?

A Number Nine Revolution 3D Video card is a very old card nowadays (in I.T progress time), Orchid also manufactured Number nine cards.

We're going back to Win95/Win98 Beta here when 3D graphics were really just beginning to develop and appear on the market.
4Mb, 8Mb or if you had a 12Mb Voodoo2 you had a top shelf card!!. The AGP graphics bus was still in it's infancy, probably around Direct-X v.5 or 6.0?.

Looks like that video card uses the s3 driver per XFree86s website. It should work, however I can't say I'd use one. If you don't have Ubuntu installed yet give it a try and see if it detects it automagically. If you do have it installed already and are thinking of switching try running "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" when you to the driver section pick "s3"

Can you help with this problem?
